with feeling
with purpose
with all the forces of life and death
+++++
how do we practice passion faithfully?
sounds like a contradiction
faithfulness has become staid, drab, a march to boredom, lifeless
while passion sounds like a crowd of thousands cheering on the sporting event, the rock concert, or reality TV show.
if we measure by the numbers, that is
if we listen to the critics
+++++
but what of passion and faithfulness in everyday life?
how do we practice passion faithfully?
and passion for what?
and whom?
+++++
life and death, purpose and feeling
this is the week we give it our all in the church
most of the social world around us says scale is the key:
bigger, louder, more dramatically, those are what tell us something has passion
this seems an incomplete answer
unsatisfying at best
+++++
this week as we practice the passion of Jesus together
listen for the invitation to ask yourself:
where is passion in my life?
in the life of the communities where I give of myself?
how are we living
with feeling
with purpose
with all the forces of life and death
with passion?
